Morzine, France

Nestled in one of the world's most extensive international ski networks, the Portes du Soleil, Morzine provides a vast 650 km of piste suitable for all skiing levels.

Skiing in Morzine

Beginners: The Pléney area, characterized by its gentle and sunlit tree-lined slopes, is ideal for novices. Les Gets features "Mappy's Areas," dedicated zones with magic carpets and a tow rope, while the Nyon Plateau's blue runs like Lièvre and Pâquérages offer additional breadth for budding skiers.

Intermediates: The slopes branching from the Pléney télécabine, such as piste B, C, and D, cater wonderfully to intermediate skiers. Super Morzine's Zore and Tetras blue runs, although a tad steep at times, present a suitable challenge. Similarly, the Nyon Plateau's aforementioned blue runs enable intermediates to perfect their skills.

Advanced: While steep terrains aren't the hallmark of Morzine, Pléney's south-facing red runs like Rénard and Fouine, and Les Gets' Chavannes bowl's black runs, including Yeti, offer the thrill factor. Nyon's Aigle Rouge stands out as a challenging slope, with off-piste detours and the formidable Aigle Noir further ramping up the challenge.

Off-piste: Morzine entices off-piste aficionados, especially around the Nyon and Chamossière lifts. Skiers venturing into these areas, such as Pointe d'Angolon, should exercise caution due to terrain irregularities and potential avalanche risks.

Snowboarding: While Morzine isn't a primary destination for snowboard parks, its snowboarding opportunities are enriched by the surrounding areas. Nyon, Morzine's key snowboarding spot, offers a quaint snowpark. Les Gets, on the other hand, is a haven atop Mont Chéry.

The outdoor ice rink stands as a central attraction, located next to the tourist office, complemented by the indoor rink at Parc des Dérêches for less favorable weather. Daytime sledging is available for children aged 6 and up, with the added thrill of guided night sledging from the top of the Pleney lift for the older kids.
