Set high above the Oisans valley, Vaujany offers a unique blend of traditional alpine charm and modern facilities. The resort provides direct access to the expansive Alpe d’Huez Grand Domaine, allowing skiers and snowboarders of all levels to explore a variety of terrain. With a family-friendly focus, excellent off-piste opportunities, and a relaxed après-ski scene, Vaujany offers a well-rounded winter experience for all.
Beginners: Vaujany is an excellent destination for beginners, with its own ski area at Montfrais, offering quiet, sunny slopes that are perfect for learning. The ESF ski school provides tailored lessons for new skiers, and the long green runs in Alpe d’Huez offer great terrain for those looking to practice their turns.
Intermediates: Intermediates will find plenty of variety across the Alpe d’Huez Grand Domaine. The area offers a wealth of blue and red runs, particularly around Montfrais and Alpette, with wide pistes that allow for smooth, enjoyable descents. More adventurous intermediates can tackle the famous Sarenne run, which, at 16 km, is the longest black run in Europe but manageable for capable skiers.
Advanced: For advanced skiers, Vaujany connects to some of the most challenging terrain in the Alpe d’Huez area. From the top of Pic Blanc at 3,300m, experts can take on the steep moguls of La Tunnel or the thrilling black runs of La Fare, descending more than 2,000m back to the village. Advanced skiers will also enjoy the Col du Cluy and Combe Charbonniere for additional tough descents.
Off-piste: Vaujany offers excellent off-piste opportunities, especially in the Montfrais area, where tree-lined runs and ungroomed trails await. For the more adventurous, the Grand Sablet route offers a fantastic backcountry experience, accessible from Pic Blanc. Guided tours are available for those seeking untouched powder and safer exploration.
Snowboarding: Snowboarders will find a variety of terrain to enjoy in Vaujany, including the wide pistes and off-piste sections in the Montfrais area. Access to the Alpe d’Huez snowparks adds to the experience, offering freestyle options for all levels.
Vaujany is a top choice for families, offering excellent facilities and a friendly atmosphere. The Montfrais area provides sheltered, beginner-friendly slopes that are ideal for children, while the resort’s impressive infrastructure, including pedestrian escalators, ensures easy movement around the village. Off the slopes, the leisure center with its swimming pool, ice rink, and bowling alley offers plenty of activities to keep kids entertained.
Snow activities: Snowshoeing, ice climbing, sledding, cross-country skiing, and ice skating.
Non-skiing activities: Indoor swimming pool, ice rink, bowling, fitness center, and hiking trails.
Vaujany’s après ski scene is quiet and relaxed, perfect for those looking to unwind after a day on the slopes. The resort has a handful of cozy bars where you can enjoy a drink in a laid-back atmosphere. Le QG is a popular choice, offering a friendly vibe for après drinks, while others may prefer to relax in one of the resort's many comfortable chalets.
Vaujany offers a delightful mix of dining options, from gourmet to traditional alpine fare. For fine dining, IDA Restaurant at the Hotel V serves up delicious gourmet dishes with a modern twist, while La Table De La Fare and Le Chalet Gourmand specialize in hearty mountain meals. On the mountain, Bonsoir Clara is a standout option, combining traditional flavors with modern French cuisine and a great wine list. Whether you’re craving pizza, fondue, or something sweet from La Crepe'rit, Vaujany’s culinary scene caters to all tastes.

I usually book flights, transfers, hotel, ski rental and lift passes myself but this year used WeSki for a trip to Morzine. It was so much easier. Everything worked perfectly - transfers arrived on time and there was plenty of feedback throughout the whole process giving you confidence the holiday would go smoothly.
A really useful service that is so much easier to use than other ‘all-inclusive’ sites. It nicely bridges the gap between a travel agent and booking the trip yourself online. I will use WeSki every time I go skiing from now on.
We booked a late minute skiing trip to Morzine through we ski. We looked at booking the trip ourselves but could get anywhere near the price quoted by we ski. The company was excellent and we had no problems at all from start to finish. I would definitely use them to book another weekend skiing trip.
Seamless experience from start to finish. I was spending ages trying to sort out a weekend break and managed to do it with we ski in minutes and for the same price as booking it all up yourself. Flight, transfer and accommodation was all as expected and faultless.
