Skiing in Vaujany

Beginners: Vaujany is an excellent destination for beginners, with its own ski area at Montfrais, offering quiet, sunny slopes that are perfect for learning. The ESF ski school provides tailored lessons for new skiers, and the long green runs in Alpe d’Huez offer great terrain for those looking to practice their turns.

Intermediates: Intermediates will find plenty of variety across the Alpe d’Huez Grand Domaine. The area offers a wealth of blue and red runs, particularly around Montfrais and Alpette, with wide pistes that allow for smooth, enjoyable descents. More adventurous intermediates can tackle the famous Sarenne run, which, at 16 km, is the longest black run in Europe but manageable for capable skiers.

Advanced: For advanced skiers, Vaujany connects to some of the most challenging terrain in the Alpe d’Huez area. From the top of Pic Blanc at 3,300m, experts can take on the steep moguls of La Tunnel or the thrilling black runs of La Fare, descending more than 2,000m back to the village. Advanced skiers will also enjoy the Col du Cluy and Combe Charbonniere for additional tough descents.

Off-piste: Vaujany offers excellent off-piste opportunities, especially in the Montfrais area, where tree-lined runs and ungroomed trails await. For the more adventurous, the Grand Sablet route offers a fantastic backcountry experience, accessible from Pic Blanc.
