Beginners: The Zell am See-Kaprun ski area is welcoming for beginners. Aspiring skiers can start their journey at the beginner areas located by the AreitXpress and Schmittenhöhe gondolas. These gentle terrains are perfect for first-time lessons. Graduating from these areas, beginners can take on the blues above the Areitalm mountain station, where they can hone their skills while enjoying breathtaking views of the lake.
Intermediates: Intermediate skiers have a treasure trove of runs to explore on the Schmittenhöhe mountain. The region offers a blend of tree-lined valley runs and spacious slopes near the mountain tops. Particularly recommended are the rolling reds below the Sonnkogel lift. For those craving high-altitude skiing, the Kitzsteinhorn glacier's high-altitude slopes, accessible by a ski bus, offer impeccable snow conditions and the potential to link up with the neighbouring Skicircus area.
Advanced: Advanced skiers can find challenges on the Schmittenhöhe with its reddish-black runs amidst the trees, mogul runs under the chairlifts, and powder skiing opportunities during prime conditions.
Off-piste: Off-piste enthusiasts will adore the Kitzsteinhorn glacier, which rises over 3,029m above sea level and offers pristine terrains for gliding on powder snow. With marked routes, and a handful close to ski lifts, skiers are never too far from familiar grounds. For updated safety information, visiting the Freeride Info Base is recommended. Moreover, the Ski Circus offers top-notch off-piste areas in Saalbach and Hinterglemm for those seeking new adventures.
Snowboarding: Snowboarders can indulge in freestyle action at Zell am See-Kaprun's snow parks. The Kitzsteinhorn glacier hosts three snow parks with setups for various skill levels, from the Glacier Park open in autumn to the Easy Park & Central Park in winter. The region also features the Maisi Park, designed for young enthusiasts, and the Schmittenhöhe snow park, which caters to both beginners and more advanced boarders. Here, riders can explore butter boxes, wave boxes, rails, kickers, and more.
Glacier skiing: The Kitzsteinhorn Glacier promises a unique skiing experience, boasting top snow quality and a plethora of runs ranging from gentle blues to steep blacks. The glacier extends the freestyle season with its parks, including the legendary Glacier Park in the autumn and the Easy and Central Parks in the winter. Freestylers can also challenge themselves at the superpipe, with its imposing 150 metres length and walls reaching up to 6.5 metres. I usually book flights, transfers, hotel, ski rental and lift passes myself but this year used WeSki for a trip to Morzine. It was so much easier. Everything worked perfectly - transfers arrived on time and there was plenty of feedback throughout the whole process giving you confidence the holiday would go smoothly.
A really useful service that is so much easier to use than other ‘all-inclusive’ sites. It nicely bridges the gap between a travel agent and booking the trip yourself online. I will use WeSki every time I go skiing from now on.
We booked a late minute skiing trip to Morzine through we ski. We looked at booking the trip ourselves but could get anywhere near the price quoted by we ski. The company was excellent and we had no problems at all from start to finish. I would definitely use them to book another weekend skiing trip.
Seamless experience from start to finish. I was spending ages trying to sort out a weekend break and managed to do it with we ski in minutes and for the same price as booking it all up yourself. Flight, transfer and accommodation was all as expected and faultless.
