Skiing in Bad Gastein

Beginners: For beginners, Bad Gastein presents an easily accessible nursery slope near the gondola valley station. However, many prefer the beginner area at Angertal, given its larger expanse and a more diverse selection of runs. One recommended stretch for novices is the mellow blue trail that winds through a picturesque forest, starting from the chairlift's peak and ending in the valley.

Intermediates: Intermediate skiers are in for a treat, with a plethora of sweeping slopes tailor-made for cruising. The blue runs above the village are an excellent warm-up, but the real star is the descent from the Graukogel peak—a scenic, tree-lined trail that drops over 1,000m. For those seeking a bit more thrill, the smoother black run on Kreuzkogel offers a challenging yet manageable adventure.

Advanced: Advanced skiers have their playground on the Stubnerkogel, boasting a couple of demanding black runs, and the Graukogel. For those craving pristine powder, Sportgastein glacier is a must-visit, and it's easily reachable with the complimentary ski bus. Moreover, the Kreuzkogel off-piste runs and the World Cup downhill racecourse are bound to satiate the appetite of thrill-seekers.

Snowboarding: Snowboarders have the opportunity to showcase their freestyle skills at the snow park on Stubnerkogel. Following fresh snowfalls, the off-piste terrain near Kreuzkogel's summit transforms into a snowboarder's dream, offering exhilarating rides through untouched snowfields.
