Skiing in Obertauern

Beginners: Obertauern is perfect for newcomers to skiing, with nursery slopes conveniently located by the village and Bobby’s Monster Park offering a fun introduction for kids. Progression is seamless with wide, gentle blues served by the Sonnenlift and Schaidbergbahn lifts, providing breathtaking views as you learn.

Intermediates: Intermediates will love the Tauernrunde, a unique circular route that allows you to explore the entire ski area on well-groomed blues and reds. The circuit can be skied in either direction, offering a varied experience without repeating runs. Add in short lift queues and plenty of open slopes, and it's ideal for clocking up kilometres.

Advanced: While limited in number, the expert runs in Obertauern offer serious challenges. Gamsleiten 2, known as one of Europe’s steepest pistes, is a must for thrill-seekers. For off-piste adventures, powder-filled pockets between marked trails provide ample opportunities for advanced skiers to test their skills.

Snowboarding: With its wide runs and modern facilities, Obertauern is a dream for snowboarders. Beginners will appreciate the forgiving nursery slopes, while the snowpark near the Kehkopfbahn lift caters to freestylers with kickers, rollers, pipes, and boxes.

Families

Obertauern’s family-friendly credentials are second to none. The resort features dedicated children’s areas like Bobby’s Monster Park, complete with gentle slopes and engaging activities for kids. Parents can take advantage of ski kindergartens and family packages while enjoying the resort’s easy layout that keeps everything within walking distance.
